Kennedy's 3rd Birthday Party

For Kenny's Birthday this year we celebrated it on Saturday, because her birthday was really on Sunday. Devin and I took her to her first movie at the movie theater. It was The Princess and the Frog. She loved it!!! And we did too.She kept telling us the whole time that she was so excited. Then after the movie was over Kennedy started to cry because she wanted to watch it again and didn't understand that you just watch the movie and then leave, anyway we headed home to pick up Olivia from her G-ma Karries house and go home for dinner and to get ready for her birthday party. She was so happy at her Birthday Party. She wanted to be the one to open the door for everyone, it was so cute.  She was a very spoiled 3 year old.  Her presents were a Princess Table and Chairs from Aunt Jen and Uncle Nick, *Pink* Snow boots from Grandpa and Grandma Beasley and kids, some really cute princess outfit  from Great G-ma and G-pa Jepson, Princess and The Frog Art set and a cute purse w/money from G-ma Karrie and Stan, and a pop up princess book that sing songs, pre-tend makeup stuff and a cute princess carrying case w/wheels for all her loot from Aunt Heidi and Family all the way from North Carolina!!
Thanks To everyone for coming. And for all the presents :)**Note To Self : Buy a better camera, that other can use besides yourself. I didn't get that many pics of everyone. Sorry !!

The night before her Party --Cake Story:
So I decided for this Birthday I was going to make her cake instead of spending a lot  of $$$ on buying one. Well after much thought and asking Kennedy what she wanted, It's was a *Pink (of course)Barbie Cake!!!! I got right to work on it,I borrowed a glass Pyrex bowl from my mom and I bought a 8 in round cake pan from Walmart. 3 *pink* cake mixes 2 cans of *pink frosting, angled frosting spatula, and the decorating bags and tips and of course the Barbie!! Then  I came home and waited for Kennedy to go to bed so I could start working on it. I swear kids know when moms have a plan because they refuse to go to bed, So about 10 o clock she finally fell asleep. And I was ready to work on it. So I put on my headphones and mp3 player and it was off to work I go. Okay I was done or so I thought until the cake was too short for barbie, no problem right? Wrong, I needed to make one more layer and had no more eggs!!  So at 11:35pm pj's, and all I ran to Walmart before they closed to get eggs!!! So a little after midnight I was back and making the next layer. All the layers were done and I had to let them cool down for 45 min so I popped them into the freezer before cutting and frosting the cake.12:45 AM-I took out the cakes and was ready to assemble the cake and do a crumb coat -(just frost the whole cake to seal in the crumbs for a smooth finish) easy peasy, no problem! Then popped it back into the freezer for another 30 min to seal  crumb coat. About 1:15 AM- I took out the cake from the freezer and it was on to the next layer around frosting. This was a little harder for me I had to decide how I wanted to frost and decorate the cake, and of course I took forever to decide, I wanted it to be perfect you know, So that took about 45 min of just staring at the cake then I decided and I started to frost it, that was going great until I had to make some butter-cream frosting for the purple, holy cow that is some messy stuff, It has a lot of powdered sugar and when I turned on the blender it went everywhere!!! But I figured it out and it was the perfect consistency, The Worst part was mixing the colors, it wasn't coming out to be the color I wanted it to be it was either too light or dark and I was running out of frosting so it HAD to work, I kept mixing and mixing and mixing until I FINALLY got it how I wanted, and by this time it was about 3:00 AM I was extremely tired and kind of sick to my stomach from to much Mt.Dew to stay awake,

Anyway I was ready to frost and decorate and be done. But from all the mixing of the frosting it was just goo, so I needed to stick it the freezer and let it set up again. Well I left it in there like 10 min at the most and it was Frozen Solid!!! I was so irritated, I had to sit there and just let it get soft again so I could squeeze it out, Finally it was Soft enough and I Frosted and decorated the whole thing!!!!! It was 4:00 AM when I finally finished the whole thing! I was so tired I crashed on the couch, It had taken a little longer than I had anticipated But overall ,It was pretty easy and very well worth it!! Kenny loved it when she saw it. This was my very first attempt ever at  making a cake,I think I did pretty good job! I really really liked doing it and I am pretty sure I will do it for all the Birthdays to come!!!
